On the 2nd of October, the students of the class 5BHW had the pleasure of getting an insight about how the Cultural Care Au Pair programme works, which gives people the opportunity to make a unique childcare experience as well as improving their English while exploring a new country. With the help of video clips and a game about the US, Magdalena, who was an Au Pair herself and Angela, who is from the States, gave us basic information about which qualifications you need to have in order to apply for the programme or why it looks good on your CV. A gap year abroad is not just learning to take responsibility while taking care of the kids, but also gaining self-confidence and becoming part of a new family. That year could also help to reflect your future if you’re still not sure about your journey after school.
Thanks to this presentation, we now have an insight of what it’s like to be an au pair. This lesson appealed to all of us, even to the ones who were not really thinking of going abroad. A gap year definitely has a lot to offer, especially if you complete it together with Cultural Care Au Pair, where you seem to be treated very well.
